Using Materials
From the Special Collections + Archives
The McIntyre Library Special Collections and Archives at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire is part of the Wisconsin Historical Society’s Area Research Center (ARC) Network. Our relationship with Wisconsin Historical Society allows archives users to borrow manuscript and archival collections from any UW System archives, Wisconsin Historical Society, and the Northern Great Lakes Center.
Requesting Collections from Other Archives
To request that an offsite collection be delivered to the Special Collections and Archives, please fill out this Request Form. Your transfer request will be processed as soon as possible. Most requests are filled within one to three days.
Transferred collections may be kept here for 30 days, with an option to renew for another 30 days.
While most materials may be sent through the ARC Network, there are some exclusions. These include:
- Naturalization records
- City directories
- Photographs
- Films
- Oversize materials (maps, ledgers, etc.)
- Rare books from UW-Madison's collections
- Extremely fragile materials
As a lender, we strive to fill all requests within the ARC Network. In addition to manuscript and archival material, we will send small maps and most rare books.
