Main Desk Student Assistant

Serve as the first point of contact for library users at McIntyre Library 
Level of contact with people: High
Main responsibilities:

  • Share and answer questions about library services
  • Assist library users with technology like printers and scanners
  • Check out library materials like books, study rooms, and laptops

Blugold Makerspace Student Assistant

Help library users in the Blugold Makerspace
Level of contact with people: Medium
Main responsibilities:

  • Train users in the use of makerspace equipment
  • Provide project assistance or refer users to available experts
  • Store and retrieve tools and materials
  • Ensure safety and policy adherence

Cataloging Student Assistant

Prepare new books for checkout and remove items from the library collection.

Main responsibilities:

  • Data entry into the computer and filing papers
  • Moving around heavy boxes and carts of books
  • Writing and typing call numbers, stamping, sticking labels and barcodes, applying book covers

Digital Studio Student Assistant

Help library users in the Digital Studio at McIntyre Library

Main responsibilities:

  • Assist users with Digital Studio equipment and software
  • Provide project assistance or refer users to available experts
  • Perform regular inventory checks on Digital Studio equipment
  • Create instructions and learning materials to aid users

Stacks Student Assistant

Assist in the maintenance of the library collection by shelving, shifting, and straightening library materials

  • Organize library material for reshelving  
  • Locate lost or mis-shelved items
  • Gain a working knowledge of the Library of Congress and Dewey Decimal systems
